Botox – how to get the best from your toxin treatments

Toxin Do…..⁣

1. Always wear SPF. Every single day regardless. Protect your skin from the aging effects of the sun. If you have leathery, sun damaged skin, you’ll never get the full effect of toxin treatment.⁣
2. Sunglasses stop you screwing up your eyes, therefore preventing constant contraction of the brow and eye muscles. This helps prevent strengthening of these and fighting against the effects of your toxin⁣
3. There isn’t a lot of concrete evidence to support this yet but many leading experts in aesthetics believe that Zinc supplements help get the best from your toxin. The toxin uses zinc from the body to work so in theory, making sure there’s plenty can only be a good thing. ⁣
4. Keeping eye checks up to date will help prevent scowling and squinting, just like sunglasses. This prevents over use of muscles that you’re trying you weaken with toxin. ⁣
5. Keeping hydrated keeps the body and skin in good condition. Dry skin looks crepey and dull. A bad diet will reflect in your skin. ⁣

⁣Toxin Don’t…..⁣

1. Nothing ages your skin and makes you look older than sun damage.  Using sunbeds or over exposure to heat will affect how your toxin settles, especially when fresh. ⁣
2. Heavy exercise causes increased metabolism and increased sweat. Both these things affect toxin longevity. Most people who exercise frequently will metabolise botox quicker.⁣
3. Recreational drugs and stimulants increase metabolism. The rest is common sense. Don’t do it. ⁣
4. Lying down and having someone working around the area you’ve had injected can cause slight misplacing of toxin if it’s freshly injected. Avoid booking lashes, facials, brows, massage or chiropractor after your injections. ⁣
5. Some residual lines and movement is required for expression. If you want to be completely frozen and expressionless….go somewhere else. That’s not my ethical stance. Obsessing over tiny lines leads to dysmorphia in other areas. ⁣
6. Botox acts like a dimmer switch. You will NOT be smooth for three whole months. It takes time to kick in, peaks, then slowly starts to wear off over the next 6-7 weeks. This is normal as it’s metabolised.⁣
