Beauty From The Cold

Cryotherapy is a fast, effective and safe solution for removal of skin imperfections such as milia, skin tags, small warts and cherry angioma.

The Cryopen device emits a fine jet of Nitrous Oxide under high pressure, which allows the clinician to work with millimetre precision. This destroys the tissue by freezing the inter-cellular fluid, forming ice shards and crystals which rupture the membrane, thereby destroying the cell. That means there will be no collateral damage to healthy tissue. The lesion may swell and feel a bit irritated but will calm quickly. It takes around a week for the lesion to start to die and it normally falls off in 2 weeks.

Procedures involving skin tags, milia and cherry angiomas are no longer being treated by many doctors on the NHS and require a referral to Dermatology. Small, uncomplicated lesions can be successfully removed in private Medical Aesthetic clinics.

Treatment with Cryopen is relatively painless and very quick. Best results are with small lesions. Clusters of stubborn warts and verrucae are best seen by a Dermatologist as treatment can be long and costly in a private clinic.

Larger, floppy skin tags can be removed by a ligature procedure. The area will be covered with a dressing for 10 days.

State of the art device

Cryopen

The Cryopen has incredible accuracy and is relatively pain free. The area may feel red and tingly but will return to normal within an hour. The Cryopen is safe for sensitive areas such as the eyelids.

The lesion may take up to 14 days to fully come off. It is important not to pick it during this time. Cover it with an elastoplast if the area is rubbing or catching on clothing.
