Regnerative Medicine….what is it?

Regenerative Medicine. What is it?⁣
Regenerative treatments seek to repair or replace damaged human cells or tissues to restore normal function. Most regenerative treatments aim to increase collagen and elastin production. In basic terms, it’s all about skin strengthening.⁣
These treatments have a similar goal but they differ in mechanism.⁣

1. Polynucleotides

Polynucleotides (PhilArt) are purified marine DNA and are injected to reprogram collagen production at a cellular level by increasing the number of fibroblasts in the skin. They are suitable for most people, except vegans. No real downtime but some swelling and pinpoint bruising normally occurs. At least two treatments are required, often three for older skin. Results can take a few months to show. Strengthens the skin to make it more resistant to the aging process. Upkeep is one treatment every 4-5 months. Can by used around the eye unlike many other regenerative treatments.

2. Profhilo

Profhilo is one of my all time favourite regenerative treatments. It’s a high concentration hyaluronic acid injected into specific points to help stimulate collagen production to strengthen the skin and make it more supple. Two treatments required 4 weeks apart. Upkeep is one treatment every 3 months. This rarely bruises and the small lumps where injected are gone by the following day.⁣ Results take some time to notice as the skin regenerates from within.

3. Skin Boosters

Skin Boosters are lower concentration hyaluronic acid, some with added vitamins. Think of this as an injectable skin drink, moisturising from the inside. Skin will be lumpy (almost resembling acne) and have tiny bruises for 2 days or so. ⁣Two treatments are recommended for best results. Upkeep is one treatment every 3 months. This is also be used to brighten the skin from within alongside topical brightening treatments.

4. Skinpen microneedling

Microneedling (SkinPen) is thousands of controlled needle ‘injuries’ to help flood the skin with healing cells to help regenerate it. Skin will feel like sunburn for the rest of the day but will settle quickly the next day. The micro channels can take up to 24 hours to close fully. A course of at least 3 required but 5-6 is best if budget allows. Serums are often microneedled in to hydrate, calm, firm and brighten the skin. Upkeep is one treatment every 3 months.

These treatments can be used in combination with each other for better results. ⁣There are other treatments available which use toxin to calm oil production, flushing and sweating. Please ask about these directly.
